Par Can’s

This light is built around it sealed lamp, consisting of lens, filament and reflector.

Standard Par Can (Par 64)

This arrangement produces an extremely robust bulb able to operate at high temperatures and for short flashes. The Par Can has a metal tube around the front of the bulb, giving a very cheap, powerful light which weighs very little but produces a very bright, white light. The beam can’t be focussed and is a soft ellipse with little definition. The Par Can is suited to a wide range of duties, most notably band lighting.

Par Can’s come in a variety of shapes and sizes for different applications. The many types include: Par 16 “birdies” which are ideal for scenic or truss lighting, Par 54 Long / Short Nose these are similar to the picture on the right but only contain a 500w bulb maximum, Par 64 Long / Short Nose are the same as Par 54’s but allow for bulbs up to 1000w. The Picture shows a Par 64 Long Nose with Gel Frame and no G Clamp.

Recently Par Can’s have evolved with new technologies to create LED Par Can’s, these are nowhere near as bright as a standard Par Can but they have the ability to create many different colours by mixing Red Green and Blue (RGB). As with Standard Par Can’s these come in a variety of shapes and sizes for different applications.

Warning: Standard Par Cans get extremely HOT after any use, please handle with care.
