Scott Campbell

Since 2003 Scott Campbell has been working in several different forms of the Audio Visual industry, from stage lighting and sound to video conferencing and broadcast. In 2003 Scott got the chance to do work experience with a Video Conferencing install company, NuVideo, giving him the passion to go to college and study HND Audio Visual Technology. During this course he managed to get onto the FdSc Broadcast Technology Course at Ravensboure with an optional BA Honours top up.

Over the past 8 years Scott has managed to pick up many skills in the rigging and lighting industry as he is often chosen to run the rig/de-rig of shoots in the television studios at college and university. Since going to Ravensbourne he has worked on the majority of big projects through-out the year. These projects have often involved the knowledge to building truss structures safely, fly rigs, run power and program lighting desks.

Technical Skills and Qualifications

Scott Studied HND Audio Visual Technology at Stevenson College Edinburgh, this course included:

  • Studio and Location Camera Operation
  • Studio and Location Sound Operation
  • Studio and Location Lighting
  • Production Management
  • Sound and Video Editing

Scott is currently studying FdSc Broadcast Technology at Ravensbourne, this course includes:

  • Electronics
  • Broadcast Signals and Systems
  • Broadcast Mathematics
  • Racking
  • Central Apparatus Room Operations and Maintenance

Scott has also worked for several companies over the past few years giving him various Audio Visual Skills

  • Install of projectors and screens
  • Termination of many AV cables and mains
  • Rack Wiring
  • Basic programming of switchers and room control

Over the past 12 months Scott has been pushing more towards the lighting and rigging industry teaching himself:

  • DMX protocol
  • Power distribution
  • Safe Rigging
  • Generic and Intelligent lighting control
  • Building and Flying of structures

Scott decided to get IPAF qualified for 1a,3a and 3b so that he could put up rig points and hang fixtures safely. He qualified at Easi Uplifts in Bellshill.

Work

Scott is always looking out for work or work experience in either the Broadcast or lighting industries, with a goal to become a multi skilled engineer.
